Improvement needs Humility.
Plus 2 Quotes from Ananth + Invitation to our Step-by-step 5S Implementation Program
In many factories, the first response to a problem is to introduce a tool. A new format. A new checklist. A new system. There is an urgency to act, to fix, to show progress. But the results often don’t sustain.
Because the real starting point was missed.
Improvement does not begin with tools.
It begins with humility.
The humility to accept that we may not fully understand the process.
The humility to go to the shopfloor and observe without assumptions.
The humility to listen to operators who work with the problem every day.
Without this, tools become superficial. They get implemented, but not internalized.
A team may introduce 5S formats, visual boards, or standard work documents. But if the mindset is, “we already know,” then these tools become routine activities—not drivers of change.
On the other hand, when leaders approach improvement with humility, something shifts.
They ask better questions.
They observe longer.
They involve the right people.
And when tools are finally applied, they fit the problem. They sustain.
Lean is not a race to implement more tools.
It is a discipline of understanding reality first.
Because in the end,
Improvement needs humility before tools.
2 Quotes from Ananth:
Authority demands answers. Leadership demands listening.
Lean is not a toolset. It is a way of seeing.
Invitation to our 5S Implementation Program - for High Impact and Sustenance
Over the last 3 months, we conducted a Free Online 5S Implementation Program for manufacturing companies. The goal was simple — help teams move from theory to action on the shopfloor.
The response was excellent. Supervisors and engineers from 5 companies participated. Instead of just learning concepts, they started implementing 5S step-by-step inside their own workplaces.
What we learnt: When people are given the right structure and a simple framework, improvement happens faster than expected.
We are starting our second batch of Online 5S Implementation on 02 Apr 2026.
This program consists is our unique way of Gamifying 5S, forming 5S Habits among your team members through Weekly Training and Reviews to help you create high Impact and Sustenance in 5S.
